The Darvas Box uses extreme high and low conditions to form dynamic support and resistance levels, which are captured in the form of a “box”. This is a great system for uptrend breakout trading.

“We are delighted with the capabilities of the adaptive indicators offered in MetaStock 11,” said Scott Brown. “The 43 new indicators provide dynamic look-back functionalities based on volatility, cycle, or a combination of both, providing the most responsive and accurate results.”

For a limited time, MetaStock 11 will be available at a special introductory price. It may be purchased by calling 1-800-882-3040 or online at www.metastock.com. All registered owners of MetaStock are eligible for MetaStock 11 upgrades.

Created by John Slauson, PowerStrike is unique because it is the only add-on that determines support and resistance based on three developments in the market:

  • Stock prices are heavily influenced by trading near option strike price levels
  • Bullish and bearish pressures at these strike price levels resolve more quickly than pressures at other levels
  • Traders are drawn to option strike prices

Tactical Trader Advanced Trading Strategies is comprised of three different trading strategies developed by Clinton Schladich:

  • Time on Target system – This system utilizes time displacement and well known, slightly adapted indicators to hone in on trades
  • Geometric Vector System – This system provides a better understanding of price action using the theory of price action and resistance vectors
  • Strategic Edge System – This system is a more traditional system that employs a varied method of entries and exits

Equis Releases MetaStock Pro FX

Released 06/26/2005

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Introducing QuoteCenter

Salt Lake City, Utah USA – June 26, 2005. Equis International (www.metastock.com) announces the MetaStock way to trade the FOREX (foreign exchange) market. Introducing MetaStock Pro FX, the real-time version of MetaStock specifically created for FOREX trading. MetaStock Pro FX uses charting and technical indicators to help investors analyze the FOREX market.

Equis allocated much time conducting interviews with active FOREX traders to discover what traders need to make better FOREX trades. Their goal was to understand what tools and functions would work best in trading today’s foreign markets. These interviews have helped Equis create a product that will impress even the most experienced FOREX trader.

The base of this new FOREX product is the real-time version of MetaStock, MetaStock Professional. Equis International took the incredibly powerful MetaStock Professional software and molded it to the specific needs of the active FOREX trader. As a result traders now have the tools needed to get amazing buy and sell signals with MetaStock Pro FX.

MetaStock Pro FX comes with a number of built in trading systems specifically designed for the FOREX trader. The FX Multiple Time Frame System allows traders to get a “top down” view of a FOREX currency pair for easy trade decision confirmation. The system uses multiple time frame charts to determine trends with a currency pair. This is a great way for traders to see how strong the trading signal is.

The FX Keltner System is another sensational way to analyze the FOREX markets using MetaStock Pro FX. There are two FX Keltner Systems. Keltner System 1 is composed of a Template and an Expert. It looks for patterns that occur on a very infrequent basis. When the signals occur, they are usually followed by sharp moves. Keltner System 1 informs the trader of these moves. Keltner System 2 also has a Template and Expert and serves the same purpose for patterns that occur on a more frequent basis.

Also included is another popular system among many FOREX traders, The FX Pattern System. This system combines Bollinger Bands, Standard Error Bands and a Stochastic Oscillator in a way that gives FOREX traders revealing buy and sell signals. Many FOREX traders use this methodology as part of their analysis strategy.

MetaStock Pro FX makes the trading process easier for investors with a trade link button to Interbank. The MetaStock Pro FX package is powered by QuoteCenter. This real-time data service is incredibly powerful, offering institutional quality quotes and news at an individual investor price. QuoteCenter has a broad amount of FOREX pricing and news, as well as a special workspace displaying windows of various FOREX information. QuoteCenter also has over 800 bank contributors.

The FOREX market is the preferred market to trade for many reasons. First, the FOREX market is the most liquid market in the world. Traders can get in and out of trades quickly. Second, the FOREX market is open 24 hours a day during the trading week. Traders can trade whenever they want. Third, the FOREX market doesn’t charge any commissions. Traders only have to pay for the spread. Fourth, the dollar goes much further with a hundred to one leverage ration. Lastly, there are no overnight trading gaps since the market never closes during the week.

MetaStock 8.0 Features Retooled, Enhanced System Tester

Released 10/02/2002

New testing capabilities, more analysis features power up latest version of preferred trading software

SALT LAKE CITY, October 2, 2002 - MetaStock 8.0, a full-version upgrade of the award-winning software for charting and analysis of all types of securities, is available today in both end-of-day and real- time versions from Equis International (a Reuters company, NASDAQ:RTRSY).

The new version boasts a completely new Enhanced System Tester with the ability to test multiple trading systems on multiple securities, along with the ability to customize these tests with a multitude of trading variables, thus creating a more realistic trading scenario. Traders may also now use The ExplorerTM for online and new volume-based explorations, place up to 6000 securities in a folder when downloading data, and analyze securities with the new Equidistant Channel Line Study. Five new PowerPivotsTM models identify and label trading ranges for better entry and exit strategies. Traders can choose from a virtually unlimited color palette to customize charts. And MetaStock 8.0 still includes the powerful arsenal of MetaStock trading tools found in previous versions of the software.

"To succeed in today's volatile markets you have to minimize risk and anticipate changes before they hit," says Equis president and CEO Allan McNichol. "MetaStock 8.0 is designed to meet those needs, especially the Enhanced System Tester. Testing trading scenarios on historical data-before committing real money to the markets-creates a realistic preview of the results you can expect with your strategies. And for all testing and analysis, MetaStock 8.0 with the Enhanced System Tester is more thorough, powerful, and comprehensive than any other software out there."

The Enhanced System Tester

With MetaStock's Enhanced System Tester, traders can set up any combination of securities and systems they want to test (one system on one security, one system on multiple securities, multiple systems on one security, or multiple systems on multiple securities). For greater customization, they may place variables in their systems-entries, exits, expanded stops, order sizes, commissions, and more. Then one click sets the tests in motion, and the Enhanced System Tester tries every possible scenario with those variables.

When the tests have run, the new, more extensive system test reports show ranked results for each system and security. The System Tester also automatically plots buy and sell arrow and equity lines, allowing traders to track changes over a given test period. This helps determine which systems and securities work best together to earn consistent returns-and which combinations are not compatible.

Users can easily modify and save changes to the systems they have tested, and a MetaStock Wizard helps to guide them through the process of choosing systems and securities, setting up test options, and executing the analysis.

Improved Capabilities in The Explorer

The Explorer screens, scans, and ranks thousands of securities to quickly find those with the greatest profit potential based on the user's criteria. It also generates daily buy and sell signals. Now, in MetaStock 8.0, traders have the option of performing explorations with online data, saving them the extra step of downloading, storing and updating historical data to use in performing explorations. In addition, eight new built-in, volume-based explorations let traders search for a variety of high-volume stocks;a feature highly requested by MetaStock users.

Power Pivots Identify Trading Ranges

PowerPivots, exclusive to MetaStock 8.0, consists of three systems and two tools that offer the user an entirely new perspective of the market place. The first of its kind, PowerPivots uses proprietary algorithms to evaluate the market's current market trend and momentum, and helps the user to identify those key turning points in the market.

Other New Features

The DownLoaderTM is an award-winning data collection program within MetaStock that downloads historical end-of-day price quotes. Now traders can download data and store up to 6,000 securities per folder, making downloading data much more convenient, and easier to use with The Explorer and Enhanced System Tester. In addition, MetaStock 8.0 features a new indicator;the Equidistant Line study, and a virtually unlimited Windows color palette to customize colors for line studies, indicators, price styles, etc.

MetaStock's Established Arsenal

MetaStock still features the impressive array of charting and analysis tools that have made it the favorite software of serious traders for almost 20 years. By combining MetaStock's nine charting styles and over 150 indicators and line studies-including Ichimoku Kinko, Linear Regression, Moving Average (7 variations), Stochastics, MACD, Relative Strength Index, Spreads, Trendlines, Fibonacci Fans, the new Equidistant Channel Line Study, and dozens more-individual traders can view and analyze the markets in unique ways.

MetaStock's Expert AdvisorTM lets traders know what top investment experts have to say about their trading scenario, as well as the technical state of the chart. In addition, the Expert Advisor can be programmed to identify and label 31 different candlestick patterns, monitor charts for critical situations, and flag special conditions, among many other features. MetaStock's DataOnDemandTM lets traders access online data and pull up their charts instantly-without the data maintenance chores of former days. More Internet features let users move seamlessly between MetaStock and their online trading. MetaStock also features Favorites folders for easy organization, Click and Pick/Drag and Drop functionality for timesaving ease, "SmartChartsTM" so important changes are never lost, individual chart toolbars for easy viewing and manipulation, and templates and layouts customizable for each trader's individual ideas and style. For greater customization, traders can apply the Indicator Builder and Function Library for creating user-defined or proprietary analysis tools, or OLE 2.0 compatibility for integrating analysis with other programs like Microsoft®Excel.

Two New MetaStock Plug-ins Available Today

Released 07/22/2002

Nison's Candlesticks Unleashed reveals power of Japanese-style charting techniques;

Adaptive Trading Solutions offers cream-of-the crop stock systems

SALT LAKE CITY, July 22, 2002 - MetaStock ®, the technology leader in charting and analysis software for financial markets, expands its potential today with the release of two new trading system plug-ins:Nison's Candlesticks UnleashedTM (NCU) and Adaptive Trading SolutionsTM (ATS). The makers of MetaStock at Equis International, a Reuters company (NASDAQ:RTRSY) have prepared these plug-ins with development partners Steve Nison and TSA Group, respectively.

Nison's Candlesticks Unleashed

Nison's Candlesticks Unleashed, the first of the two new plug-ins, helps traders get the context of the markets' broader trends, then trades on the fluctuations within those trends using Steve Nison's candlestick patterns and proprietary formulas.

"For an effective candlestick-based trading system, one that keeps risk to a minimum and increases the probability of successful trades, there was no question but to ask Steve Nison to spearhead the project," says Equis president and CEO Allan McNichol. "His stellar reputation is well earned, and traders will see the benefits of his expertise when they use NCU."

Nison adds, "MetaStock is the perfect platform for traders to capitalize on my unique trading approach, through software. It's powerful, reliable, flexible, educational, yet easy to use." And, he says, "This project has added new dimensions to my own analytical techniques, thanks largely to the power of MetaStock."

What Is Candlestick Charting?

Japanese Candlestick charts date back to the 1700s, when they were used to analyze the prices of rice contracts. Candlestick charts display the open, high, low, and closing prices as Western bar charts do, but in a way that clarifies the relationship between the opening and closing prices. Many traders find that by using candlestick charts, they can see more clearly what technical analysis should always reveal-the action and reaction of individual traders acting en masse.

Helping Traders Apply Nison's Ideas

NCU capitalizes on some of Steve Nison's most practical trading principles. The system combines Steve Nison's favorite candlestick patterns and MetaStock's versatile power tools. Using these tools, traders can

  • Screen for bullish or bearish market patterns. An exclusive expert for MetaStock's Expert AdvisorTM, the NCU-SPY Global Market Monitor, determines the current direction of the financial markets so the trader knows whether to screen for buy or short trades-or neither. Created specifically for the NCU trading system, the SPY Global Market Monitor synthesizes trend, volatility, volume, and price momentum into one technical indicator.
  • Find the right securities to watch, depending on how the markets are behaving overall. The NCU-Bear and NCU-Bull explorations in The ExplorerTM allow traders to find the most promising trade opportunities. Each exploration searches for securities showing any of its respective candlestick patterns. Based on Steve Nison's proprietary formula, the exploration report also reveals which of these stocks with candlestick patterns show the greatest evidence of movement in favor of a trade.
  • Manage trading risk with expert commentary delivering Reward/Risk Ratios. After opening the chart of a favorable stock, the appropriate expert is attached, and the trader can view the expert commentary. Here, a Limit price is given, based on an acceptable Reward/Risk ratio - that being, the potential gain calculated is at least 50% greater than the potential loss in every trade.
  • Monitor open trades automatically. Once having entered a Buy or Short trade, NCU provides daily commentary so Stop Loss and Limit orders can be adjusted, based on daily calculations. By analyzing the recent volatility, pivot highs and lows, and the open trade's ever-changing reward to risk ratio, the Expert Commentary calculates -- and recalculates -- precise points to place ongoing Sell or Buy Stop orders.
  • Expand their understanding of candlestick charting. Some trading systems operate on a "black box" basis, where signals are generated without any explanation for the user. NCU is a "gray box" system, providing information and requiring the trader's involvement. Nison writes, "I won't be satisfied with this product if it expands only your wallet. It must expand your mind, as well."

Adaptive Trading Solutions

The second new plug-in, Adaptive Trading Solutions (ATS) increases the odds of success for the individual stock trader by using pre-programmed analysis systems to generate buy and sell signals along with calculated confidence levels and historical success rates. It includes one system each for real-time and end-of-day traders, both proven through extensive testing to be the top performers from a field of 20,000 similar systems.

ATS' Two Best-of-the Best Systems

Adaptive Trading Solutions offers two options for traders.

  • The End-of-Day System works exclusively on stocks and is based on positive trend reinforcement, or variations in high and low price movement.
  • The Real-Time System is based on increases and decreases in the volatility of the security on which the system is being used. This system also includes stop losses to get out of any losing trades before losses grow too large.

How ATS Systems Work

A user of either ATS system may create a WatchList of stocks customized to specific criteria, or download an entire database of securities. The trader will then run a signal exploration to determine which stocks are generating buy signals for that day through ATS-generally 1-3% of the list. Results may be sorted according to Historical Success Rate (percentage of successful trades ATS would have generated in the past for each stock) or Confidence Level (a conservatively calculated estimate of the success of future trades).

Next, the trader can analyze promising signals from the signal exploration more deeply with ATS' exclusive tools in MetaStock. An equity curve tool in MetaStock's System Tester helps determine how the "personality" of a stock would have worked historically with ATS. New Chart Pattern Recognition Plug-in Makes MetaStock Market Forecasts Easier Than Ever

Released 09/03/2001

Equis and John Murphy Team Up to Announce "CPR" software

SALT LAKE CITY, September 3, 2001 - Predicting where the markets are likely to go has always been the aim of analysts, no matter what their methods. Now there's a new tools to make market prediction easier for every investor and trader. The makers of MetaStock, Equis International (a Reuters company) have teamed up with John Murphy of MurphyMorris to create MetaStock Chart Pattern Recognition (CPR), a new plug-in for MetaStock. CPR allows traders and investors to identify classic, "tried-and-true" chart patterns through their MetaStock software.

"There's no other product for investors that works like John Murphy's CPR. We are tremendously excited about it," says Allan McNichol, president and CEO of Equis. "John and his business partner, Greg Morris, have contributed their incomparable expertise to help us make one of the most powerful and educational tools for technical analysis on the market today." McNichol says that Equis is looking forward to more partnerships with solution providers such as Murphy and Morris in the future.

What Are Chart Patterns?

Chart Patterns are pictures or formations that may appear on price charts of stocks, commodities, or other types of securities. Repeatedly, these patterns have been shown to have predictive value. Chart patterns are classified into two groups:

  • Those that predict a reversal in a trend, and
  • Those that predict the continuation of a trend.

CPR takes the guesswork out of identifying these patterns.

Key Features

The reversal patterns identified by CPR include

  • Head and Shoulders
  • Inverse Head and Shoulders
  • Triple Tops
  • Triple Bottoms
  • Double Tops
  • Double Bottoms

Continuation patterns that are detected include

  • Symmetric Triangles
  • Ascending Triangles
  • Descending Triangles

CPR allows traders to verify the patterns they identify with John Murphy's own expert commentary and to highlight the patterns on their charts with colorized bars and labels. CPR includes explorations that will automatically scan through thousands of securities looking for specific patterns. It will also filter out everything but the securities that are most likely to produce the best trading opportunities.

System Requirements

The minimum configuration required to run CPR includes MetaStock 7.0 (or higher), Microsoft Windows 95, 98, or NT 4.0 (or higher), a Pentium 166, 32 MB of RAM, and 50 MB of free hard disk space.

The recommended configuration includes a 233 MHz (or faster) processor, 128 MB of RAM, and 50 MB of free hard disk space for installation.

Pricing and Availability

CPR is regularly priced at US$399, but it's currently being sold for US $299 plus shipping and handling. CPR can be ordered by phone at 801-265-8886 or 800-882-3040, by fax at 801-265-3999, or by email at sales@metastock.com. More information and online ordering are available at https://www.metastock.com.

About MurphyMorris

John Murphy and Greg Morris joined forces in 1996 to produce educational products and services for investors. "There was a void in quality software products that truly focus on investor education," says Morris, "probably because software developers were not necessarily knowledgeable in the financial arena."

John J. Murphy has been an analyst with CNBC television and is the best-selling author of three books (Technical Analysis of the Futures Markets is universally considered the leading reference on the subject). He is also a highly acclaimed expert on intermarket relationships, a newsletter editor, and an internationally known speaker. Murphy has been actively involved in market analysis and commentary for almost 30 years.

Gregory L. Morris is an investment analysis software developer, an author, and a frequent speaker at seminars, both in the United States and internationally. Morris has been actively involved in investment software development for over 15 years and has been an active trader for over 20 years.

Two Choices Now Available for Online MetaStock Charts

Released 08/31/2001

MetaStock Java, MetaStock Image Replace MetaStock Online

SALT LAKE CITY, August 31, 2001 - MetaStock now offers two choices in online charting:MetaStock Java for live, interactive charts, and MetaStock Image for fast-loading, static charts.

"As we spoke with organizations that wanted charting on their web sites, we discovered a need for a choice of customizable charting programs," says Allan McNichol, president and CEO of the Reuters subsidiary Equis International, the makers of MetaStock. "As successors to our popular MetaStock Online program, we've created two new programs:MetaStock Java and MetaStock Image. The capability of each one is greater than before, and the division allows Equis to offer greater flexibility and value to companies who wish to use MetaStock's online charting."

MetaStock's Online Charting Experience

Here's how MetaStock works for online charting. Users arrive at a main page, financial page, or any page the site's owners want to use for MetaStock. The chart area shows a default chart customized for that particular web site. To get a different chart, users simply type the symbol for the security they want to see. MetaStock pulls data from any server specified by the site and then creates the new chart-either a live, interactive chart from MetaStock Java or a fast-loading, static chart from MetaStock Image, depending on which option the site owner has chosen.

Dependable Charts

MetaStock software is among the best-built, best-tested tools for analyzing price data, and the new online charting programs are no exception. They provide dependable, worry-free charts for companies to use on their web sites. Companies may choose the data that is used in their specific version of MetaStock Java and MetaStock Image. This flexibility is important when a company has an established relationship with a data provider-or when the company is a data provider itself. As long as their data is delivered in the format explained in the web integrator's kit, MetaStock can handle it. MetaStock Java and MetaStock Image also allow companies to:

  • Use open, high, low, close, volume, price, or timestamp price data
  • Chart price data on any market-stocks, commodities, options, mutual funds, indices, and more
  • Work with more than one feed or source

Customizability

With MetaStock's new online charting choices, each company can choose what features to offer, creating the best value for its customers. Here's a sampling of a few popular features a company can include in its version of MetaStock Java or MetaStock Image:

  • Compare and plot up to five securities/instruments on a chart at once with a color-coded legend.
  • Display daily, weekly, monthly, yearly, and intraday intervals.
  • Change between Bar, Bar w/Open, Candlesticks, and Line Charts.
  • Show volume bars and window at the bottom of chart.
  • Control the size (height and width) of the chart.
  • Make practically any visual change desired-colors, fonts, whatever is needed to make MetaStock Java or MetaStock Image fit any site.
  • Let users choose from as many as 21 technical indicators and studies for analyzing their charts.
  • To easily specify the language used in all aspects of MetaStock's display, a language file has been externalized. Many other enhancements have also been added to allow for easy localization.

Availability

MetaStock Java and MetaStock Image are available through Equis. Interested parties should call 1-800-882-3040 or 1-801-265-9996, fax 801-265-3999, or email msj@metastock.com for more information.

New MetaStock Plug-in Brings Innovative Tools to Technical Analysis Traders

Released 04/30/2001

Flexible new trading systems integrate into MetaStock and are demonstrated profitable

SALT LAKE CITY, April 30, 2001 - MetaStock ®today introduces Performance SystemsTM and Performance Systems Plus TM, 80 new trading systems that have been shown to have a high percentage of wins compared to a buy-and-hold strategy. They also feature high-tech performance tools for powerful analysis, giving them a unique edge over other trading systems on the market.

"These winning systems are optimized for the entire market-designed to be profitable over large groups of stocks," says Allan McNichol, president and CEO of Equis International (a Reuters company) the developers of MetaStock. "They allow traders to perform tests over an entire database of securities to locate securities with a high profit potential. That's been impossible until now."

Equis' partner in creating the Performance Systems was Trading Systems Analysis Group, which specializes in trading systems that meet every trading profile and allow investors to determine the tradable quality of a security.

Find Which Securities Work Best with Any Trading System

As part of the Performance Systems' wealth of advanced abilities, the Performance Explorations allow traders to select one of 80 available explorations, then scan favorite securities or a database containing thousands of securities. The exploration sorts and ranks the securities, then returns performance numbers on long positions, short positions, and long-and-short positions, then compares all three to a buy-and-hold position strategy.

In-depth Information on Chosen Securities

The System Tester allows close inspection of criteria that gauge the effectiveness of a system. Traders may also use the System Tester to perform a comparison test between different Performance Systems to determine which strategy fits best with their specific securities.

Signal Explorations and the Expert Advisor

The tools described above produce lists of stocks to place ins a "watch list." The Signal Exploration and Expert Advisor alert traders of securities that will generate buy and sell signals that day and give commentary.

MetaStock, Bollinger Team Up to Create New Trading Systems

Released 04/16/2001

Bollinger Band System adds power, saves time for MetaStock traders

SALT LAKE CITY, April 16, 2001 - Bollinger Band System, a new plug-in for MetaStock ®charting and analysis software, is available today. The new plug-in, also called BBS, combines the expertise of John Bollinger and the analysis power of MetaStock to create an automated trading system that searches thousands of securities to find those most likely to reverse their current trend. Then, from that group, it singles out a few that meet certain, selective criteria. This cycle is completed by unique input from the user, resulting in stocks that consistently perform well and fit each individual's personality and trading style.

"Applied with wisdom and skill, Bollinger Bands can help a trader make spectacular returns in the markets.," says Allan McNichol, president and CEO of Equis, the makers of MetaStock and a Reuters company (NASDAQ:RTRSY). "We're very pleased that John Bollinger helped us add the 'wisdom and skill' ingredients to our system-and very excited to provide the total BBS package to MetaStock users."

When asked about his motivations for creating a Bollinger-Bands-based plug-in for MetaStock, Bollinger himself explains, "Many people, even though more than capable, simply do not have the time to devote to creating a reliable mechanical trading system based on Bollinger Bands. I believe that BBS can effectively fill this void."

What Are Bollinger Bands?

Bollinger Bands are trading bands, or lines drawn above and below the price line on a security price chart that suggest when the security is overbought or oversold. They're unique because of their focus on volatility:By allowing the movement of prices themselves to the set the width of the bands, Bollinger Bands are able to react quickly to market conditions. But they only provide a framework, not absolute buy and sell signals. BBS is a system built to pick up where that framework leaves off-using Bollinger Bands on the best-fit securities and applying them correctly to generate profitable transaction signals for busy traders.

How Traders Will Use BBS

To begin using BBS, traders need at least 3 years of data on a minimum of 5,000 to 6,000 securities. On that data they will run BBS's Watchlist Maker exploration, which filters out low volume/price securities and those that have less than 500 periods of data. The resulting group of securities is called a "Watchlist," and from it, traders will run the BBS exploration.

The BBS exploration finds securities that have generated "buy long" and "buy short" signals according to a carefully assembled MetaStock Expert Advisor based on Bollinger Bands and the trading wisdom of John Bollinger. These securities are the ones that fit well with Bollinger Band trading and will be the candidates for successful trades with BBS.

Finally, traders will open the charts of screened candidates to look them over and apply their own wisdom along with any other favorite MetaStock tools and indicators. This allows BBS to be highly personalized, making sure its results fit with the trading style of each individual user. Some traders may want to apply their knowledge of a security's fundamental data, while others may want to use additional mathematical indicators within MetaStock. BBS is designed to feed high-potential candidates into any trading style. The manual provided with BBS also provides many suggestions for ways to further analyze the data brought up by the BBS exploration.

After traders have used BBS within MetaStock to find long or short trading opportunities, they may also use the Expert Advisor to monitor open trades. To do this, they will attach either a Long or Short Track expert to a chart, depending upon the signal the exploration generated. The experts provide chart-specific feedback on the current status of open long or short trades. When an exit signal for a trade is generated, an expert alert will pop up onscreen when the chart is opened, and an exit arrow will appear on the chart. Users may also view expert commentary and read about the current condition of the open trade.

System Requirements

BBS is programmed for MetaStock 7.2, MetaStock Professional 7.2 and higher. The minimum configuration needed includes Microsoft Windows 95, 98, 2000, or NT 4.0 (or higher) Pentium 166, 32MB of RAM, and 50MB of free hard disk space. The recommended configuration includes 233 MHz (or faster), 128MB of RAM, and 50MB of free hard disk space.

Pricing and Availability

BBS is regularly priced at U.S.$399, but it is currently available for the limited-time introductory price of U.S.$299 plus shipping and handling. These plug-ins can be ordered by phone at 801-265-8886 or 800-882-3040, by fax at 801-265-3999, or by e-mail at sales@metastock.com. New Reuters MetaStock Professional Works With Reuters Data Backup Unit (DBU)

Released 03/30/2001

20+ years of Reuters data available through leader in market analysis software

SALT LAKE CITY, March 30, 2001 - Today marks the beginning of a new era in technology for professional and institutional investors as a new software application, Reuters MetaStock®Professional, makes its debut. Reuters MetaStock Professional is a total solution for charting and technical analysis of market data. With this release, it becomes the first leader in market analysis software to be compatible with the Reuters Data Backup Unit (DBU), allowing for seamless integration and charting of the wide-ranging historical Reuters data stored in the DBU.

Equis®International, Inc. (a Reuters company, NASDAQ:RTRSY), the maker of Reuters MetaStock Professional, has produced award winning technical analysis software for 17 years. However, this is the first software release that is compatible with the DBU. Running side by side on the same desktop, Reuters MetaStock Professional perfectly complements the data displays, news and analytics found in Reuters 3000 Xtra and other Reuters applications.

"We've made a perfect match with the Reuters DBU and MetaStock's DataOnDemandTM technology," says Equis president and CEO Allan McNichol. "MetaStock Pro's DataOnDemand data retrieval technology allows a trader quick and easy access to the vast amount of data in the DBU, enough for the deepest and most serious analysis." And, he says, MetaStock is fully prepared to perform the rigorous technical analysis that top-level traders need for their high-pressure decisions.

Seamless Integration:DataOnDemand and the DBU

DataOnDemand is a technology designed by Equis for quick retrieval of market data stored on the Internet with other versions of MetaStock. Now, in Reuters MetaStock Professional, it has been applied to allow traders on-demand access to data that has been stored to a local or shared DBU.

"The integration between MetaStock and Reuters data is smoother than ever before," notes product manager Paul Huish. Whenever traders enter a Reuters Instrument Code (RIC), they get a chart based on data from the Reuters feed. It even allows access to instruments they have been following with other applications-equities, futures, indices, foreign exchanges, economic indicators, and more. In other words, any history built with the Reuters DBU will be accessible in Reuters MetaStock Professional.

Reuters MetaStock Professional allows traders to retrieve up to 20 years of daily history (and over 10,000 ticks) of the instruments they have been following. They can also retrieve data in increments of one minute, five minutes, one week, and more. In addition, traders can access the Reuters DBU for current real-time and intraday data for nearly every major exchange in the world that they have permissioned.

Professional-Level Analysis Power

Reuters MetaStock Professional also offers power and speed for analyzing data gathered from the DBU, creating an advantage for professional traders in their competitive arena. Its features include:

Flexible charting with favorites folders for easy organization;SmartChartsTM so that important changes are never lost;individual chart toolbars;customizable templates and layouts;and 9 different razor-sharp charting styles

Over 120 line studies and indicators, including Ichimoku Kinko, Linear Regression, Moving Average (7 variations), Stochastics, MACD, Relative Strength Index, and more.

Indicator Builder and Function Library for creating user-defined or proprietary analysis tools;System Tester for testing theories on historical data;Expert Advisor for automated pop-up commentary, alerts and more;and The ExplorerTM, which screens, scans, and ranks thousands of instruments.
