Next-Level Charting

One of the core values of MetaStock is the ability to represent data in a fast, friendly, effective manner - on a chart.  We are always working on our charts.  With Next-Level Charting in MetaStock 18, you can view the data you want to see just how you want to see it.  Customizable, sensible, easy-to-read, logical charts.  

• New and Updated Charting Styles - Whether you prefer Bars, CandleSticks, CandleVolume, Heiken-Ashi, or EquiVolume, you now can change colors and fills based on the criteria you choose.  Do you want to express an upward close-to-open move with a filled green candlestick? No problem. Want to show purple bars in a close-to-close downward move?  You got it.  It’s up to you!  And you can save it as a default for all your charts. There are also now 6 different line plot styles: line, stepped line, filled line, set filled colors, dot, and histogram for advanced viewing.
• 16 New chart themes - With the NEW MetaStock chart themes, you can choose a look that best suits your data, your environment, your analysis, your lighting… your mood!  These new chart themes are clean and crisp and adjust existing line drawings and indicators to work with the surrounding colors.  Want to darken your screen to view in a dark environment?  Done.  And Switching back is just as easy.
• New Chart Objects - MetaStock charts are smarter than ever.  The scroll bar lets you navigate immediately to the part of the chart's history you are interested in as well as shows a smart preview of all your loaded data. The information provided in the X and Y-Axis better highlight your data by offering more viewing options
• Improved Chart Functionality - Form needs function, and MetaStock 18 has a load of new features that help you navigate your charts.  From the most-recently-used custom time frame feature and improved error handling to improved undo capability and unlimited inner windows, MetaStock 18 delivers.

Indicator Updates

Our users wanted more from their indicators and how they can customize them.  MetaStock 18 is just what they ordered.  The customizability is nearly endless.  From a set of new plot styles including Stepped Line, Filled Line, Stepped Filled Line, Dot, and Histogram to a range of customizations including colors, shading, filling between envelope lines (like Bollinger Bands).  To top that off we made sure all the indicator values now plot in the title bar as well.  

We also made the MetaStock indicators smart.  They know where to plot automatically.  In addition, MetaStock now includes new Volume Up/Down with multiple calculation methods, MACD Histogram, and of course, making sure the Ichimoku plots the Senkou Span A and Span B into the future.  

Finally, MetaStock now allows changing all your settings in one indicator plot window rather than changing per line.  Easy, right?

Drawing Tools Updates

MetaStock has a rich selection of drawing tools and users have come to rely on these time-tested tools. We wanted to make them even better, we've added features like the ability to measure performance within a trend and the ability to save defaults and your settings in drawing tools. Now you can customize and save all your drawing tool settings. These along with many other clever enhancements will enhance your MetaStock experience. Here are just a few of the new nearly countless and customizable drawing tools in MetaStock 18.

• Save your own settings on drawing tools like Trendlines, Fibonacci Tools, Line Studies, Text Box... just about everywhere in drawing tools.  
• The new trendline: Add arrows, Performance information, number of bars, custom labels, and more. 
• New Methods for Andrews Pitchfork including Standard, Schiff, or Modified Schiff (You can even add control and warning lines)
• Calculate many on a logarithmic scale. 
• The ODDS probability cone now allows for multiple probabilities and allows for drift per period. 
• Cross Hairs lets you see the Price and Date on the X and Y-Axis.
• These and many more.

Power Console Updates

At the heart of MetaStock is the Power Console. Now you can get what you need faster with the enhanced searching capabilities which allow you to locate the instrument’s folder by searching for either the name or the symbol. In addition, a dedicated favorites tab for your top explorations and tests, enhanced scan and test name search, and the ability to minimize the data display range round out the MetaStock 18 Power Console’s new functionality.

OptionScope Enhancements

Option Traders Love the convenience and power of OptionScope.  The Enhanced OptionScope in MetaStock 18 was designed to give you an improved view of what is important when trading options – Risk and Sentiment.  With the Options Sentiment viewer, you can view where the market interest is in the options you are interested in. You can view both open interest and volume.  You can even zoom in on the top traded options, no problem. 

Options Traders also know that risk management is critical.  Along with the Option Sentiment viewer, you can also plot your risk based on 9 different built-in strategies.  Simply select the strategy and it will ask you for the required inputs and it will give you a clear, easy to read customizable risk graph based on the following strategies: Bear Put Spread, Bull Call Spread, Covered Call, Long Call, Long Put, Long Straddle, Married Put, Short Put, and Short Straddle.

QuoteCenter Enhancements

Introduced in MetaStock 17, QuoteCenter has become the standard for list management. MetaStock 18 offers a new Gainers/Losers bar so you can see at a glance how your account or list is performing. In addition, you can change the charts settings from your Power Console, making it even more convenient to set things the way you like them. It will now also share the theme settings with OptionScope.

Downloader

Everyone's favorite resource for downloading and managing data got a few additional convenience features:

• A  “Remove All” button to the download tab in DownLoader Console.
• “File type” is now displayed in the Downloader and MetaStock datasheet.
• Use Shift+click to select a range of instruments in the Download Console.
• Retain the long name of the CSV file when converting in Downloader.
